The Second Battalion has now eight companies and will hereafter be designated as the Second Regiment.
Militia companies have recently been organized at Blue Earth, Litchfield and Redwing. Stillwater is also contemplating the organization of a military company.
Representative Hartley has introduced a bill to amend the Bobleter bill, making a regiment to consist of ten instead of eight companies, and providing an additional appropriation of $2,500.
The officers of the Second Regiment have been ordered by Lieut. Col. Bobleter, commanding Second Regiment, to meet at Mankato, on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 1883, for the purpose of electing a Colonel, Lieut. Col. and Major. The officers will also elect a regimental surgeon to rank as major and a judge advocate to rank as first lieutenant and fill all vacancies that may thereby occur.
