Interesting Condensed News from Over the State by Counties.
Logan County: Mr. Walker has had his 1,800 head of sheep dipped....Contracts for breaking more land are already being let.
Pierce County: Threshing machines are scarce....Peter Olson has 8,000 bushels of wheat....A party was given Miss Luttie Sikes previous to her departure for Mayville.
Eddy County: John Vogt threshed 587 bushels of wheat from twenty-five acres....I. C. Davies was injured in a runaway....The assets of the county reach $30,018.15, including $1,977.74 cash.
McIntosh County: W. A. Linn bought 160 acres of land last fall and raised enough on it to pay for it.... Sherman Post G. A. R. has been organized at Ashley....Quite a party have been at Ft. Yates on an excursion.
Emmons County: George W. Johnson and his son were the names of those burned to death in the prairie fire; several others were severely burned.... Immigration has already set in; three new babies in one week The Record chronicles.
Ward County: There is over $5,000 in the county treasury....Ed Sikes got some hot toast for supper the other night, coyenne pepper hot....Hon. Charley Gregory, Cashier Saiyards and Fred Ely were out hunting the other day and bagged 120 chickens.
Cass County: Mrs. John Spyra of Durbin is dead....Joe Leal of Casselton has lost a valuable three-year-old colt.... The Casselton German Lutheran church will be dedicated Oct. 4 .... J. C. Gill lost forty acres of wheat by fire.... The Hunter Eye will remove to Casselton.
Bottineau County: George Haacke had a hard struggle with a bear, but won....R. B. Bell is a heavy loser from a prairie fire ..Cashier Noble reports $6,599.40 on deposit in the Bottineau County Bank, subject to check... Miss Bertha Thomas has closed the Willow City term of school.
Griggs County: Treasurer Enger wants all persons owning personal property taxes to pay up.... Captain Gliss, an immigration agent for the Canadian government, has been recalled; he made many friends here but could not induce settlers to go with him....Ole P. Firing averaged 32 bushels on 140 acres.
McHenry County: No term of the district court until winter....Everybody is improving their homes....G. H. Stevens has added 8,000 more sheep to those in the county....A party of railroad surveyors are quietly at work near Villard; they are thought to be Northern Pacific men.
Richland County: The Gazette reviews the personnel of the old board of trade....R. N. Ink says that fields upon which nine successive crops have been raised yielded twenty-two bushels this season.... Two fellows tried to hold up F. W. Maehler, of Tenney, the other day, but he whipped up his horse and got away.
Stutsman County: Jamestown College opened last week.... Frank S. Eddy and Harriett L. Young are married.... John Nichols has brought in 5,000 sheep from Idaho for Lloyd & Hamilton... The Alliance Company had $38,678.70 paid losses this year; it is believed the losses of both years will be cleared up this season.

Cavalier County: The county has $3,575.34 cash on hand....A. R. Stewart of Alma, had five acres of volunteer oats, five loads threshed out 240 bushels, and there are two more loads ....George Diebel's oats on the town-site at Milton, threshed eighty bushels to the acre....William Surerus succeeded well in raising sugar beet, but don't know what to do with them.
Rolette County: Rev. J. R. Crum has a fine garden near Dunseith; he has corn stalks with well filled ears on each stalk.... William Gollbrecht had fifteen sacks of oats stolen.... The county term of court is postponed until Nov. 17.... The branch has three trains a week again....Charley Belgard was accidentally shot the other day, but not seriously.
Foster County: Carrington had a narrow escape from fire....Senator Casey expects to thresh out 70,000 bushels of wheat....Ed Walton's entire crop averaged twenty-five bushels.... A concert was given at the courthouse Sept. 25....A mortgaged team sold at chattel sale for $260; this is different from the prices which have prevailed for a year or two past.
LaMoure County: Mr. Goring's little son was severely kicked by a horse, breaking his arm....Hon. L. A. Ueland harvested 2,500 bushels of wheat from 100 acres; it graded No. 1 hard, with one pound dockage....Mrs. Hinish is recovering from a sprained foot....S F. Campbell estimated his wheat at fifteen bushels, but it threshed thirty bushels.
Barnes County: The wife of Editor McKean has gone to Pennsylvania on a visit....James Walks lost 2,300 bushels of wheat in the Uxbridge fire.... Misses Clare Hubbard, and Corna Sharmon gave a very pleasant party to many of their friends....The O'Brien farm lost 2,500 bushels of wheat by fire....Chris. Paxton recently died at Valley City; he weighed over 450 pounds and a special coffin had to be made for his remains.
Nelson County: Fred Ferris' wheat averages thirty-five bushels per acre.... A prairie fire near Bartlett burned 150 acres of wheat....Fourteen carloads of sheep have been brought into the county...Joe Pierce is building a sheep barn 160x32 feet....Fred Oben had ten acres of flax that yielded 250 bushels ....More men are wanted in this county ...Messrs. Hutchinson, Herndon and Joy have brought in 6,000 more sheep.
Pembina County: The St. Thomas Congregationalists will build a $3,000 church next spring....Dr. W. J. Montgomery has returned to Ardoch....E H. James, of St. Thomas, prevented a serious fire by throwing a blazing and broken lamp out the window the other night....Frank King averaged 32 1/2 bushels on his Joliette Farm....A prisoner in the county jail was searched and found to have a rope in his possession made from his bed clothing.
Traill County: The Portland public schools have opened....Back taxes are being collected....Hillsboro has levied a tax of 5,000....John Nevel was seriously scalded at the water tank at Hills boro....A. L. Plummer got an average of thirty bushels per acre Prairie chickens are thick....The First National Bank of Mayville reports an excellent business....Superintendent Mc Kissick reports an average of thirty bushels on Mr. Grandin's Mayville farm.
Walsh County: Banker Lord of Park River has brought in a train load of sheep for the farmers.... Ole Christianson threshed 520 bushels of wheat from ten acres, just fifty-two bushels per acre....Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Wise had a silver wedding.... The Cavalier train is now running four times per week.... Grafton has a whist club. .. Hans Robertson killed a bear the other day.... ...Alex. Pujet had his thumb crushed by a water tank....J. J. Dougherty got 100 bushels of oats to the acre.
McLean County: Mrs. Josie Cumborland is teaching at Washburn....Ole and Gilbert Sather marketed the first new wheat....The G. A. R. post gave a picnic in honor of Capt. Thomas Fitzgerald. who soon removes to Colorado .... All the schoolmarms in this county have their own ponies and vehicles and they go driving when they wish to without waiting for some young man to ask them; they may be preparing for leap year events in 1892.... The Ft. Berthold Indians had good crops this year.
Sargent County: The Teller publishes a very interesting "cereal" story of the crops of North Dakota....John Miller, who works for Senator Nelson had a quarrel with a fellow workman and came out second best....Dr. Mc Kenzie has purchased the drug stock of C. D. Rittenhouse and will consolidate the two stores. ... The Cogswell Rustler comes out as bright as if it had never suspended publication....The Item is very newsy nowadays.
Wells County: Ed Spicer got 19 bushels of flax per acre....D. Harris is visiting the postoffices of the county.... Messrs. Wells and Dickey have advanced the prices of their farms 25 per cent....C. V. Brown has received some thoroughbred Shropshire sheep. ... The Whitby Cheese Factory is turning out quite a large product....Judge Rose held a short term of court at Sykeston; but two cases were presented and both were continued.
Ransom County: Charles E. Fairbanks. of Ft. Ransom, reports an average of twenty-five bushels of wheat.... Charles Hummason has shot a monster pelican.... The deed for the site for the soldiers' home has been given, and arrangements for building will probably be completed at the next meeting of the board....County Superintendent W. F. Grange and Adda Taylor-Davis are married....Mrs. Holt got 5,660 bushels of wheat from 180 acres, an average of thirty-one bushels per acre.
Burleigh County: Captain Flavin received a beautiful watch charm from his friends....Ed Brunsman sowed two bushels of flax and harvested 201 bushels....The sheep men netted over 19 cents per pound for the 10,000 pounds shipped Boston, while Minneapolis only offered 14 cents per pound.... The Settler says that Governor Burke has granted the petition for the organization of Williams County....Denny Hannatin is helping the Enforcement League.
Kidder County: The road to McIntosh is being improved. Elloly bis heroaR Am.H.takix report good yield i7 RehU has had a Russian made for 15 which shears the pest on two acres per day....Guelph is to have a general store....The prairie fire east of Oakes was started by sparks from a Soo locomotive....John Oleson slid off a load of wheat upon the tine of a pitch-fork, inflicting fatal injuries, probably.
Ramsey County: A ball of binding twine was accidentally fed into a threshing machine and tied it up so completely that work was delayed a day.... Henry Hule is the new secretary of the chamber of Commerce....Lieutenant Beacon has been at Ft. Totten enlisting Indians for the regular army....Grand Harbor farmers give notice that hunters will not be allowed to trespass.... Great wheat yields continue to be reported....The Church's Ferry Sun reports the corn yield good there.
Steele County: One hundred and forty-four liquor affidavits were taken out in Steele County during August for thirty different diseases; thirty-eight were for diarrhea, fifteen kidney complaint, thirteen colic....J. G. M. Stone of Enger. threshed 3,200 bushels of wheat from eighty acres ..The Tribune has already been enlarged....C. H Carpenter's wheat is averaging thirty three bushels....Farmers have generally built granaries for their wheat.... John A, Van Dusen threshed 600 bushels from 175 acres of land....Rev. S. B. Maheney is back from Newfoundland Everybody reports good crops to The Pioneer.
