On the eighth instant Mr. Hachenberg, of Illinois, had four head of fine Durham cattle and a horse killed by lightning near Milburn, San Saba county, Texas. Another Durham yearling's eyesight was destroyed by the shock, and young Hachenberg was afterward found about fifty yards from the dead stock in a helpless condition. The shock came near killing him, and he had lain in an insensible state for about eighteen hours. While in this condition some wretched devil had stripped him of his valuables. He was taken to Milburn, cared for, and is recovering.
