Full Text

Many trials of the down-trodden Sophomores.
How we are scolded and abused!
We are forced to be subservient to the pretentious Seniors, and humble ourselves to the high and lordly airs of the Juniors.
We are told to patronize their plays,—the greatest plays on earth to hear them talk. After begging, borrowing, and scraping all our money together, we look forward to an evening of enjoyment. But there is a catch in it! Our well-meaning teachers select the next day of all days to give a six-weeks test. At the last possible moment we are told our notebooks are due the following day. How we work to get them in. And, several weeks afterwards, when we timidly inquire what has become of our precious notebooks we are given a reproving glance and politely told 'the Senior and Junior notebooks are not yet finished.'
Perhaps one thinks it is due time for us Sophomores to assert our authority and to demand more consideration, but we are only waiting to become Juniors and Seniors. Then won't we put those Sophomores in their places!
Irene Goldsboro.
