Full Text

The River.--The Mississippi river is again
falling, and we hope that those who live upon
its banks have experienced the worst for the
season. A recent trip down the river has enabled
us to form some idea of the injury which
has been sustained along the "coast." It presents
quite a scene of desolation. The sullen
waters of the majestic stream move angrily along
where at this season of the year the new
crop usually begins to put forth. Many habitations
are deserted, and the prospect of vast
numbers of crops both of sugar and cotton are
entirely destroyed.--Yazoo Dem.
