Major Boyd Barrett of Aberdeen in a card to the public thus calls down his defamers in a political way:
Seeing published reports in the papers of South Dakota, to the effect that I was managing Senator Kyle's campaign for reelection, and would sell out and coerce people into supporting the senator, I wish to say such an impression is misleading and unjust to Senator Kyle. I have nothing to do with Senator Kyle's campaign, other than as a friend and loyal supporter for reelection. If I did not support him as an Aberdeen and Brown county citizen, I would consider myself a knave and a traitor to the business interests of my city and county. As far as I know the senator has managed his own campaign from the start, without the special aid of any one of his friends, and will, I believe, do it to a successful finish.
