Full Text

THE TOBACCO CROP.—From all quarters of the tobacco region of Virginia and North Carolina we have assurances that great efforts will be made to plant a crop of this favorite staple. The want of agricultural labor will be exhibited less, we think, in the production of tobacco than in any other agricultural product. While we do not contemplate the possibility of the growth of an average crop, and whilst we know that few individuals will be able to put on the market the large quantities which heretofore have not uncommonly the product of one farm, yet we believe the aggregate amount of tobacco raised will be much greater than was at one time believed to be possible.—Lynchburg News.
