EXTRAORDINARY EXPLOIT
On the 29th ult. Samuel Beeman, 3d, and his brother Geo. Beeman, the latter aged about 16 years, discovered a large Bull Moose, swimming across the Lake—they immediately gave chase. And when they came up with him, being armed with an axe, the boy gave five blows with the axe, while his brother managed the canoe: but finding it impossible for one man to paddle the canoe as fast as the Moose would swim, and that by this course of proceeding he would escape, they united their exertions and brought the canoe alongside of him, when the lad seized the Moose by his horns, held him to the canoe, or rather held the canoe to him, until his brother killed the animal with the axe. The whole pursuit lasted about an hour and half.—Plattsburgh
