Full Text

For the Morning Star.

Will it be said of us, dear brethren, at the day of Judgment, they have done what they could in the conversion of sinners. This reflection arose in my mind, upon examining the table of recapitulation in our Register, when I found during the past year, that about one had been added to the church to every fourteen members; (exclusive of the 2534 Free Baptists.) Is this as it should be? Should it take fourteen Christians one whole year to lead one sinner to Christ, with all their prayers, sermons, Sabbath schools, exhortations, tears and private entreaties? Is this like one chasing a thousand? May God help us to reverse this picture; and instead of its taking fourteen Christians to lead one sinner to Christ during the present year, let each Christian lead 14 sinners to the Savior. Amen.

Main Argument

christians should greatly increase their efforts to convert sinners, aiming for each member to lead 14 to christ this year, rather than the current rate of one per 14 members.
