Race prejudice is an enemy that can destroy America from within. Rev John S Sexton. editor of the Pilot, told more than 5000 at the annual military mass at Fenway Park last Sunday.
"To be an American, Fr. Sexton said, "it is not enough to have been born on this soil or to have taken the oath of allegiance. Being an American means that one must accept and manifest in his practical living a fundamental credo: As an American. I must be-

believe in the eyes of God that every man is entitled to an impartial respect on the basis of character, without regard to his bank account or lack of one and without regard to the shape of his nose or the pigmentation of his skin. Character is something a man makes or breaks for himself.
"Jim-Crowism and anti-Semitism are un-American because they are anti-God. Charity. God's motive in the first creation, is the first and greatest commandment governing our duties toward one another.
"In the name of our war dead, let us. Jew and Gentile. Catholic and Protestant. rich and poor, capital and labor, put America ahead of our own group interests," Fr Sexton pleaded. "In the name of God who made us. let us try to bear with one another more tolerantly - and in all things exalt the welfare of the whole above private advantage.
"Union. the consciousness of brotherhood.in the name of the common origin in God, is the secret of a strength which no malice from without can destroy," Fr Sexton declared.
