The Democratic Party.
Republican presses and Republican partisans have, since the late Presidential and State elections, been loud in their expressions of sympathy, at what they choose to call the downfall of the Democratic party. That the party is still possessed of vitality, and is still a very "lively corpse" -elections held since the late general election prove. Three city charter elections have since been held in this State -at Hudson, Watertown and Ogdensburg, all of which resulted very favorably to the Democratic and Liberal nominees. In the cities of Hudson and Watertown, Democratic mayors are elected and in both instances, succeed mayors elected by the Republican party and in the strong Republican city of Ogdensburg, in the stronghold of Republicanism in St Lawrence county, the Republican mayor is elected by the meagre majority of four votes. The city of Boston, in Massachusetts, too, strongly Republican at the late election, now elects a Democratic and Liberal mayor. The Democracy have but to keep up and perfect their local organizations, and bring out the reserve vote, not cast at the late elections, in order to succeed in the future. Liberal Republicans, who supported our State and national nominees, will co-operate with them heartily.
