We learn from Machias, that on the 26th of August British sloop of war fired on an Indian canoe in the bay, and killed two Indians. Two or three days after, the enemy sending their boat ashore for water, the Indians rose upon them, and killed and scalped the whole boat's crew, fifteen in number. There were, in consequence thereof, an hundred Indians of the Nicknack tribe collected at the bay of Vert, painted for war, and are determined upon further satisfaction. A party of Indians was gone to the island of St. John's, with an intention of scalping every Tory that should fall in their way.
