Event Details
British sloop of war fired on Indian canoe in the bay, killing two Indians. Two or three days later, Indians attacked British boat ashore for water, killing and scalping the whole crew of fifteen. In consequence, a hundred Indians of the Nicknack tribe collected at the bay of Vert, painted for war, determined upon further satisfaction. A party of Indians went to the island of St. John's to scalp every Tory in their way.
