By a private letter just received from an officer under General Gage, we are informed of the following particulars:

Neither the military skill of our General, nor above all, his ardent desire of peaceably accommodating matters, seem now likely to avail. Every thing around us breathes nothing but war in the most serious light. In consequence of this, we have begun to mark out our encampment about a quarter of a mile from the town of Boston, which is to contain no less than 22 regiments.

Besides this, our General has a power of reinforcing these, by draughting as many marines from the ships as he shall want. So that upon the whole, we shall have a fine army; though, if common report says true, nothing like that which is to oppose us, the province of Virginia having already raised 12,000 men.
