At 2:35 p.m. Sunday, May 11, telephone service between Sidney and Glendive was interrupted. When located, Mr. Packard, Sidney manager said, it was found that twenty-one poles, crossarms, and nearly 29,000 feet of copper wire had been burned in a brush fire seven miles south of Savage. To repair the line it was necessary to call two construction crews from Terry where they were expanding plant facilities. Temporary repairs were made and service was restored at 9:40 p.m. Sunday. Permanent repairs will necessitate replacing all poles and wire. This was well under way Tuesday and should be completed some time Wednesday afternoon.
