Extract from a Letter from the Champion Middleweight.
Jack Dempsey, the famous champion middleweight pugilist, in a letter to his old friends, Tom and Mike Flaherty, of this city, writes as follows:
GALVESTON, TEXAS, Dec. 18, 1890.
Friends Tom and Mike:
Accept same old excuse for not writing (laziness). I am training down here now, and think it is a lovely place, and will get in good shape here. I have not seen my man yet, and don't think I will see him until I enter the ring, so I cannot tell yet who will take the bus for hand-Bolos
This place puts one in mind of Rockaway Beach.
Then few words of personal remembrance.
Jica Fogarty has declared that he will witness the Dempsey-Fitzsimmons fight Jan. 14, and will then challenge the winner.
