Jackson, Tenn.,
Feb. 22.—The family of Dr. Herman Hawkins, a
leading physician, are becoming
alarmed over the condition of their
15-year-old daughter, Miss Mabel
Hawkins, who has been in a deep
sleep or almost comatose condition
since last Friday. Her health had
been delicate of late and she seemed
to worry for fear that she might have
to give up her school work and fall
behind her classes. Friday morning
while preparing for school she became nervous, fell ill and sank into
seeming slumber. It has been impossible to arouse her since, except
a moment at a time when nourishment was forced upon her. It is
thought that the worry about her
health and class caused her to study
too hard and induced a collapse of
the nervous system.
