ADJOURNMENT OF THE LEGISLATURE.

The General Assembly adjourned sine die, last night. Mr. Speaker Moses was voted $500 extra compensation for his services. In his closing remarks, he complimented his Republican friends upon their successful legislation, hoping they would all meet again; and expressing the desire, at the same time, that their political opponents, the Democrats, be left "out in the cold." A resolution was introduced by Representative Wilder, returning the "thanks of the General Assembly to Governor Scott, for his earnest defence of the poor man, as evinced in his veto of the phosphate bill;" but it was laid on the table. It is reported that several thousands were used yesterday, to pass the bill over the veto. "Daddy Cain" delivered an address, in the Senate, in which, (while proclaiming himself a Republican,) he declared he harbored no ill-feeling towards his Democratic opponents; two political parties were absolutely necessary--the one to act as a check upon the other. Senator Arnim--who, we believe, is justly entitled to the cognomen of a "conservative," also addressed the assemblage and was attentively listened to. Other members also spoke in eulogistic terms of the work of the Legislature--the "irrepressible" being one of the number. The galleries as well as the floors of the two houses were crowded with spectators. This General Assembly has been in session ninety-eight days, the date of adjournment being the same as last year--March 1.
