Mr. Clyde Moore was in McFarlan, N. C., with friends Sunday.
Mr. T. L. Baker spent the day Sunday at his home at McFarlan, N. C.
Mr. Chas. Moore of McBee, was one of the Sunday visitors in town.
Mr. F. M. Moore was a visitor at court in Chesterfield last Wednesday.
Miss Kate Atkinson was the week-end visitor of relatives in Pageland.
Mrs. L. J. Watford, of Pageland, was in town for a while Tuesday afternoon.
Mr. Sanford Moore, of Wadesboro, N. C., visited the home of his sister, Mrs. W. L. Moore, Monday.
Messrs. Jewell Moore and Gravdon Rivers were entertained by friends at Ruby Sunday evening.
Mrs. David Redfearn of Chesterfield is spending some time here with her daughter, Mrs. W. N. Ratliff.
Miss Kate Hendrick, who is teaching near McFarlan, N. C., spent last week-end here with relatives.
Mr. Pickett Jackson of Wadesboro, N. C., was in town last Tuesday visiting his brother, Mr. H. A. Jackson.
Mesdames J. O. Taylor and P. M. Therrell motored to Pageland Tuesday afternoon and to Chesterfield Wednesday afternoon.
Misses Dewey Hailee, Allie McMillan, Annie Belle Poole and Ethel Cunningham of the high school faculty were in Cheraw Saturday, some of whom with their accompanying friends attended the movies that evening.
The above notes were received last week too late for the paper. We regret very much to have missed getting the notes in. They arrived on Wednesday after the paper was mailed. We thank our correspondent for his efforts and ask him to get his notes to us on Monday by noon if possible, certainly not later than Tuesday noon.
Mrs. J. O. Taylor was in Monroe Monday.
Mr. A. B. Baker of McFarlan was in town last week-end visiting relatives and friends.
Mrs. A. B. Rivers and Miss Lyda Rivers were in Chesterfield Friday afternoon.
The Rev. Mr. Snyder of Monroe, pastor of the Baptist church here, also preached at his church Sunday afternoon and evening, both of which services were well attended.
The congregation at the Methodist church last Sunday had the privilege of hearing their new pastor, the Rev. W. G. Elwell, of Pageland. Due to excessive rains and bad roads, the Rev. Mr. Elwell had been unable to fill his appointments up to this time.
The service Sunday was well attended and everything points toward a good year at this church.
An event of no little interest socially, was the party given by the pupils of high school in connection with the "Country Gentlemen" contest that was put on here recently. This affair was given at the school house where it was well attended by the pupils as well as by many visitors.
The various games played throughout the evening, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all attending, were directed by Misses Bertie Miller and Beatrice Rivers of the high school faculty. Fruit was served during intervals between games.
