MAKES FORTUNE IN
STOCKS AND QUITS

Butte, Mont., March 30. (AP)—Jack Kiley, most prominent hoisting engineer in Butte, has retired after 39 years of service in the world's mining metropolis. Mr. Kiley started as a boy of 15 years at the Moulton mine in 1889 and was put in charge of all the new hoists installed by the Anaconda Copper Mining Company, his last service being on the new 5,000 foot hoist at the Belmont mine. His record during these years was flawless. Mr. Kiley's name will be found in many stories of facts and fiction written about Butte and its mines. Some time ago he made an investment in stocks which appreciated so heavily that Mr. Kiley made the big stake. It is rumored that his investments were made principally in Calumet & Arizona and Greene Cananea.
