On loan at West Hunter Branch of the Atlanta Public Library are the six prize-winning paintings from the Student Art Competition Show.
All paintings were on the theme of the competition "50 Years-and Only Beginning" and have been placed at the library through the courtesy of the First National Bank of Atlanta for the pleasure of Atlanta citizens.
The contest was open to students in the Georgia high schools, colleges and to art students.
Carter Peek from Savannah State won the first prize of $250. Other winners were: Forrest W. Jacobs, Atlanta Art Institute, second prize; Carolyn Z. Patterson, Savannah State College, third prize; and Mrs. Russell C. Stevens, State College of Business Administration, fourth prize; Juan Thomas, Howard High School, Atlanta, Honorable mention.
The paintings will be on loan for only a few days next week, and the staff is inviting and urging citizens to avail themselves of this pleasure early.
