BOSTON. September 12.

Extract of a letter from an American merchant in Amsterdam, dated July 14, 1782.

"There has been much talk of peace, but it is now gone over. Mr. Fox, who was for declaring American independency, has found it so repugnant to the sentiments of the ruling ministers as induces him to resign, as have those of his party, and made room for Lord North to take his old place."

Extract of another letter from the same gentleman, dated the 16th of July.

"The news from England by this day's Mail is, the parliament is prorogued to September--No Independence to America-- Such of the late Ministry as favoured this measure out of place, & others of a more hostile disposition again admitted to the Cabinet."
