LIVERPOOL, (England) August 23.
The Pilgrim, Hutchinson, from Barbadoes, arrived here this day; on the 3d of May she fell in with the La Libertie, of twelve six pounders, in lat. 5. N. long. 23. W.; both ships engaged, and continued an obstinate fight until the 7th, when she struck to the Pilgrim. She is a very fine ship, of 500 tons burthen, with a very valuable cargo. She was carried into Barbadoes, and there condemned. The capt. of the prize was killed, and 5 men wounded:—one man killed and three wounded on board the Pilgrim.
The Indiaman's cargo cost 100,000 sterling in Bengal, exclusive of private property: had been out three years, and is supposed to be worth at least 150,000.
