WANT FEDERAL NUMBER
FOR HIGHWAY NUMBER 16

There is now a movement on foot to have state highway number 16, from Trade, Tenn., through North Carolina to the South Carolina line at a point south of Newton, placed on the map of Federal highways and given a federal number. Number 16 is an important artery of travel in addition to being one of the best scenic routes in this section of the country. At present there are two stretches of the road that are not improved enough to be on the federal map, namely, from Trade to Warrenton in Ashe County and from Millers Creek to Glendale Springs. It is understood that the State highway commission is contemplating building these two pieces of number 16 in the near future.
