As it should have been always, County Commissioners are to be paid something worth while for their services. According to a recent act passed by the Legislature, and which has been signed by the Governor the compensation of County Commissioners now is $4 a day for each day's service, and 10 cents per mile for each mile actually traveled in going to and from the court house. This $4 a day, however, shall not exceed $400 a year in counties of 25,000 or over, or over $200 in counties of 15,000, and less than 25,000 population. This pay is to apply to services rendered for the inspection of roads, bridges or any other service, authorized and approved by the Board of County Commissioners.
The pay of the County Commissioners in the past was $2 per meeting.
