Full Text

The war department clerks at Washington experienced a heavy disappointment yesterday. They were all anticipating a holiday on account of the funeral of Judge McCrary, formerly secretary of war. An official order had been promulgated closing the department on the day of the funeral. That order was distributed around yesterday morning, and tardy information reached the department that the ex-secretary was buried the day before. So the department clerks lost their holiday, and their grief is so much the greater.
