He writes that he is still in chains. and how iong his captivity may endure, or what may be his ultimate fate, depends entirely on the dictum of Santa Anua. He might be shot, or released, or otherwise disposed of, the next or any approaching day-all was doubi and gloomv uncertainty in re gard to bis uwre destiny. Sanla Anna bax recentiy released several Texans. through theinterposition of persous with whom hegwas acquainted in the Uuited Siates, andto whom he may bave been under some personal obligations. George W. Kendall arrived in New Orleans from Vera Cruz on a cutter, along with four Americans and four Portuguese from the Santa Fe Expedition captives. He was in fine health and spirits, welcomed enthusiastically by friends. A letter from Joel T. Case, editor and captive, received yesterday, states he is still chained, his fate depending on Santa Anna, who might shoot, release, or otherwise dispose of him. Santa Anna has released several Texans through interpositions of U.S. acquaintances.
