Event Details
George W. Kendall arrived in New Orleans from Vera Cruz on a cutter, along with four Americans and four Portuguese from the Santa Fe Expedition captives. He was in fine health and spirits, welcomed enthusiastically by friends. A letter from Joel T. Case, editor and captive, received yesterday, states he is still chained, his fate depending on Santa Anna, who might shoot, release, or otherwise dispose of him. Santa Anna has released several Texans through interpositions of U.S. acquaintances.
