BOSTON. Octo. 13.

Capt. Bellingham Watts arrived here Yesterday from Newfoundland; on the 19th Inst. in Lat. 43 15 North; and Long. 67 20 W. spoke the Brig Greyhound from Barbados, bound to Portsmouth, out 28 Days. The People informed him, that on the 5th about 5 in the Morning the Vessel was struck with Lightning, every Man on board knocked down and stunned, all recovered again except one Man, named William Molton, belonging to Philadelphia, who was killed, and one other wounded: The Mainmast was split from the Top to the Step, also both the Pumps; the lower Deck and Part of the upper Deck were blown up, and the whole Vessel was full of Smoke and Sulphur for an Hour; the Lightning likewise spoiled both their Compasses, and scorched the Cards so much that Capt. Watts was obliged to supply them with one. They had met with a hard Gale which split his Fore sail in two.

The Greyhound was struck by lightning on the 5th at 5 a.m., stunning all crew except one killed and one wounded; vessel filled with smoke and sulphur, mainmast split, pumps and decks damaged, compasses spoiled (one supplied by Watts); also met hard gale splitting foresail.
