Coach George Vaughn's Quincy High Tigers routed the Leon Lions, of Tallahassee, 56-46 here Tuesday night to go into their first two-game winning streak of the cage season. The Quincy Jayvees lost, 38-21.
The varsity cagemen, who have won three of their last four games for a 5-13 season's mark, have two home games before the annual Northwest Florida Conference Tournament next week in Malone.
The Tigers will host the Port St. Joe Sharks Friday night and Florida High, of Tallahassee, Monday night.
Vaughn's crew hit into a 14-9 first quarter lead, but a 20-point scoring spree in the second quarter gave the invading Lions a 29-26 halftime advantage.
However, Quincy outscored the invaders 30-17 in the second half to win their second consecutive game. In fact, a reserve Tiger unit played during the last minute.
Otto Joyner and Cecil Duncan, with his best performance of the season, paced the Tiger scoring attack with 18 and 15 points.
Other scorers included Larry Parrish, 8; Doug Jensen, 7; Mack Dunn, 5; Don Roberts, 2; and Charles Asbell, 1.
The winners hit 21 baskets to Leon's 20 and scored 14 free throws to Leon's 6. Seventeen fouls were called against the Lions and 11 against the Tigers.
The Tigers were also out front in rebounds, 55-27. Duncan grabbed 16, Parrish 13, Jensen 10 and Dunn 8.

The Jayvees losing attack was led by Doug Milner with ten points. Other scorers included Lamar Thomas, four; Johnny Luten, three; and James Thompson and Lester Jones, two each.
The local Tigers, coached by Jack Jones, trailed 27-5 at halftime, but held the "tall" Lions scoring spree in the second half.
