When Capt. Henshaw left the Privateer, he was in Chase of six Sail steering S.S.E. A few Days before they took the above mentioned Vessel. She fell in with a Letter of Marque Brig from the Continent, that engaged her several Hours, killed five of her Men, wounded many of their Officers and got clear off.

Samuel Henshaw sailed from New Providence on June 6; on June 16 in Lat. 37.30 Long. 74, his Brig Columbine was taken by French Privateer Sloop of 16 Guns and 120 Men from Martinico. The privateer had previously captured Capt. Messenger's London ship and a whaler ransomed for 400 Dollars, taking all English prisoners to Newport. Upon leaving, the privateer chased six sail S.S.E. A few days earlier, it engaged a Letter of Marque Brig from the Continent for several hours.
