Full Text

A correspondent says, that Gen. Desfourneaux, who is appointed to succeed Victor Hugues, at Guadaloupe, is greatly attached to the citizens of the United States. After the destruction of the Cape, he resided some years at Philadelphia, New York, and Boston, and married his lady here. If, adds our correspondent, the upas air of Paris has not infected him, we may expect some amelioration of GUADALOUPE enormities during his administration. Very well, Mr. Correspondent, but it must be recollected, that he has been chosen by the French Directory.
