Grade Track and Field Meet Tomorrow
SEVEN GRADE SCHOOLS OF CITY COMPETE
First Steps in "Star-Building" To Be Taken in Interesting Meeting.
An important preliminary step in the building up of future track and field stars for Ironton High School will be taken tomorrow afternoon, when the city-wide grade school field meet will be held at Beechwood stadium, beginning at two o'clock.
The meet will be for students of the fourth, fifth and sixth grades, with entries from the seven grade schools of the city: Lombard, Whitwell, Kingsbury, Central, Lawrence Street, Campbell and West Ironton.
All plans have been completed for the meet, which is the first big event of its kind to be held in this city. Competent officials, selected from the high school faculty, and other prominent sportsmen and athletes, will handle the various events, and everything will get off in first-class style.
The events to be contested consist of a 50-yard dash, 100 yard dash, high jump, broad jump, baseball throw, and a quarter-mile relay.
The athletes who will represent their respective schools follow:
