National YWCA Office
Patricia Ann Ison, a senior student at Spelman College and president of the Spelman College Students Association, has been elected one of two vice-chairmen of the National Student Council of the Young Women's Christian Association at a recent Council meeting at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
Miss Ison, whose home is in Americus, Georgia, has served in the Southern Region on the National Student Council and was a delegate from Spelman College to the National Student Assembly held last Christmas in Lawrence, Kansas. She is a mathematics major and plans to teach on receiving her degree.
The Council annually meets between the quadrennial meetings of the National Student YWCA and with the National Student Council of the YMCA forms the MSCY, which studies trends and developments nationally, regionally, and locally, giving direction to the national commissions and committees and advising the regional and local Associations.
The new chairman is Marianna DeSpain, senior at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington, and the other vice chairman, Catherine Gubsalus senior at Beaver College, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.
