Accounts from the south (says the Petersburg Intelligencer) state that these gentlemen having proceeded to N. C. for the purpose of settling their differences, and after meeting with some interruption from the civil authority, Mr. McDuffie proposed to col. Cumming to fight on the 2d or 3d inst. To this proposal, it is said, col. Cumming objected on account of fatigue, and offered to meet him on the 4th. Mr. McDuffie, in reply, stated that as the challenged party, he had the right of choosing the time of meeting and if his proposition was not acceded to, he would consider himself as formally discharged from any further notice of the business. This proposal not being finally accepted by col. C. Mr. McD. left the place, and arrived at Greenville, S. C. on the 5th inst. The next day col. C. reached there and posted Mr. McD. who treated his antagonist in the same manner. This done, both gentlemen started for their houses: and thus falls the curtain upon the second act of the farce of the Duel!
