Full Text

Extract of a letter from a Gentleman at Ostend,
dated July 2, 1793.

"I had the honor (if it may be so called) of going from this to England, in the same packet with General Dumouriez. As the General travelled in the character of an Italian merchant, he was not known on board the packet; though from many circumstances it was thought to be him; but I could hardly be persuaded of it, for from his diminutive and shabby appearance. I should have much rather taken him for a Jew pedlar, than a French General. He met with a very indifferent reception in London; and being ordered to quit the kingdom, he returned here immediately, and three days ago left this place for Brussels."
