Community Survey
Shows Real Need

Thirteen local organizations were present at a meeting Wednesday evening for the purpose of conducting a survey of the village as instituted by the Parent-Teacher association and the Board of Education. Considering the extreme weather, there is every indication to believe from the attendance that the drive is well under way.

It can be said that the first meeting of the groups proved very interesting and enjoyable to those who attended. The various representatives discussed in an open forum the purposes of their organizations and what they hoped to accomplish by carrying out these purposes in well defined programs.

These discussions brought to light many interesting facts relative to the age groups with which the organizations worked, the numbers in their sections and the physical facilities that each organization had to carry out their programs. However, above all else, it was very apparent that only three main interests namely, the church, the home and the school concentrate any effort toward the younger element of the community. It is such revealing truths as these that the organizations must make every effort to eliminate. Then again, no doubt there are many people who are ignored altogether when it comes to organization or recreation and who certainly are in need of some contact with community life not only for the betterment of the community but for the betterment of themselves. It is very apparent that this is not a matter of a day to accomplish, instead it may be a matter of many such meetings as this particular meeting.
