Full Text

Catholicism.

The LEDGER believes in freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and untrammelled religious sentiments. We believe in worshipping God after a man's own heart. We don't expect or want every man to think alike on every subject. The reason we refer to this matter is, that a letter from Leadville, in this issue, unwittingly reflects somewhat on the Catholic faith. We don't think the writer intended it, and we did not notice it. While we are not responsible for the views of our correspondents we, at this writing, will say that the Catholics of Mexico are among the most devoted and faithful worshippers we have in the county.
