BOSTON. March 2.

It is expected, there will be a quorum of the two houses of the new Congress meet on Wednesday next, as we are informed, that the Delegates from several States are gone on. The six members from Massachusetts, and the members from Connecticut, N. Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, will make a quorum.

Letters from the southward say that WASHINGTON will have an unanimous vote for President—and ADAMS will be chosen Vice-President by a great majority.

Thus organized the head—with a Legislature composed of men, who have confidence in each other—and who have abilities equal to the task of governing an Empire, the People of this United Republick, may look forward to the period when they shall begin to realize the prize for which thousands have spent their treasure and blood—when the ample resources of our country will be called into active operation—and when we shall be felt as a nation by the powers of Europe. It is then, that the people will know that the Federal Government is "the ark of safety"—and it is then that they shall have nothing to lament but their own unwieldy State Governments—which have long been considered as much too burdensome and extensive; and which will in future have less business to occupy their attention.

"May our experience till their toils improve,
Strength'ning the bonds of amity and love,
Till, having fix'd at last the wisest plan,
Heav'n shall bestow new happiness on man,
(Aiding in peace, as well as war, our cause)
And with true freedom blend efficient laws."

It may be worthy remark, says a correspondent, that in the prayer lately ordered by the Archbishop of Canterbury, to be used in the English churches, the people are directed to pray as follows, "O! Lord, may it please thee to remove from our sovereign Lord the King, the visitation with which, for the punishment of OUR
transgressions, thou hath seen it good to afflict HIM."
