GERMAN LITERATURE.
THE Dutchman in Smollett's Novel, who prided himself on the literary works of his brother, "as thick as the Cheese," must now yield the palm to the sentimental writers of Germany, who are now more voluminous than this or any other country can boast. From 6 to 7000 books are annually printed in Germany, which contains above 20,000 Authors who live by writing. More than 7000 Novels are said to have been published in that Country within the last twenty-five years. What a collection must a German Circulating Library be!
