Governor's Message.-Although rather late in laying this anxiously looked for document before our readers, and, from its considerable length, compelled to exclude much of the current news of the week, we opine that but few, if any, of our readers will regret the space which it occupies. The calm and dignified tone of this document, throughout, its clear and forcible reasoning, and its freedom from blemish, has, so far as we are advised, found favor with all. It has even sealed the mouths of the minions of the administration, who, heretofore have not failed to attack with demoniac fury everything which has emanated from the present executive of the State. We cannot do better justice to this masterly document, than to adopt the following language of the Richmond Whig in reference to it :
"We have never felt more satisfaction as Editors, or more pride as Citizens, in laying a Governor's Message before the public. This of Governor Tazewell, in its tone, in its specific views in the importance of its leading topic, and in its logical structure, may perchance have its equal among its predecessors, but can well have no superior. He has come up to the measure of his own celebrity and the pristine renown of the Commonwealth, Faction itself must feel rebuked, and every citizen capable of thinking aloof from the trammels of party, feels pleasure that the responsibilities of the Executive are in hands equal to the crisis and the dignity of the Commonwealth."
