Watson Post Runs
The ghosts of the old Clef club in Minneapolis and its predecessors have probably had apoplexy when they looked up or down, depending where they're at, when they saw what had been done to their old habitat.
The George Watson American Legion Post, 522, has taken over the old site of the former Clef club on the third floor of the old Kistler building on the corner of Olson Highway and Lyndale Av N. and completely renovated it.
The club rooms have been completely modernized to a tune of some $15,000 and the result has been that people who were at the grand opening last Saturday are still talking about it.
The new rooms have been called the most beautiful in the two communities and are comparable
The dancing floor is spacious.
The seating arrangement is unique in that it is on two levels, one on the dance floor and the other on a mezzanine directly over the dance floor and all around the dance floor there is a row of seats that could be best described as one big sofa.
John Richey, post commander, who is managing the club said that it can seat over 200 and accommodate about 400.
He went on to say that the club is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and this fall plans to be open every night.
Oscar Frazier and his band is there now, but from time to time the legion post plans to bring name bands in and feature floor shows on occasion.
