SHOULD LIMIT DAIRY COWS

TO SIZE OF THE FARM

PULLMAN -- Limit the number of dairy cows to the size of the farm, advises the State College dairy husbandry department

Many farms are so heavily stocked with cattle that enough roughage cannot be raised on the place.

A system of dairy farming dependent upon purchases of feed rather than the home-growing of feed, is usually regarded as unsound.

A good practice is to limit the amount of stock to the hay, silage and pasture that can be grown in a poor year.
