Governor Drake's First Pardon.

Creston, Ia., Jan. 20.-Governor Drake suspended the sentence against Druggist James W. Bagley of this city. Bagley and John Needs, a druggist of Afton, were convicted for violating the old prohibition law and fined $50 and costs, but were given long time to pay. They failed to settle and the sheriff took them in charge. Needs is in jail and will serve out his fine. Bagley's friends took the matter up on the ground that the record of his conviction was defective, and the governor suspended sentence.
