BANK CASHIER UNDER ARREST

Officer of New Orleans Germania Savings Alleged to Have Stolen $20,730.

New Orleans, Oct. 6 - Herman A. Wulff, assistant cashier of the Commercial Germania Savings Bank and Trust Company, one of the largest banking houses in the South, was arrested to-night charged with forgery and embezzlement. The extent of his defalcations is alleged to be $20,736.

Wulff is 46 years old and married. For many years he has been prominent socially, was a member of carnival organizations and has been leading a life of comparative luxury despite his moderate salary.

Six years ago Wulff won $15,000 in a lottery. It is said to-night he lost all that and all he is charged with taking from the bank speculating in cotton.

Wulff is said to have confessed his peculations and threatened to commit suicide.
