THE SILK CASE.

Judge Whitehouse Awards $6800 and Fees to the Injured Man.

The readers of the Press remember the case of Thomas Silk, the employe of the Grand Trunk road, who was employed in discharging coal, and by carelessness, was thrown from a platform and severely injured. Silk brought suit against the road, and the case was afterwards withdrawn from the jury, the road admitting its liability, and was heard before Judge Whitehouse, as referee, on the question of damages. Judge Whitehouse has just rendered his decision. He gives Silk $6800 damages and also allows the fees of his surgeon, Dr. H. P. Merrill.
