FIVE BOYS TALK ABOUT WHAT GIRLS DO THAT THEY DON'T LIKE
(continued from last week)
GIRLS WHO ARE BOSSY
PAUL: If a girl "takes over" on a date, gives orders or says, "Let's go now," without asking my opinion, I'll never take her out again.
DAVID: Boys like to feel superior, to be he-men. They don't like having the girl be bossy. I like to do things for a girl, to pour her soda in a pixie cup. I guess it goes back to the days of knighthood.
PAUL: I disagree with the idea that boys should be absolute he-men. I think a boy should ask a girl what she wants to do.
DAVID: I think the boy should feel that he is taking the girl out, he's paying the money so he should be in charge.
TOM: I think everything should be on a fifty-fifty basis, but the boy should feel he's in charge. I've known girls who get their way but do a great job of making the boy feel he's making the decisions.
PAUL: Girls who refuse to do anything different on a date are exasperating. They should be willing to try new things - Jazz concerts, baseball games. They should be flexible.
TONY: I resent it if a girl begins to demand all of my attention and time. Girls shouldn't be so possessive.
CHRIS: Well, if I really like a girl, I think it's wonderful if she's possessive, but if I don't like her, it's awful.
TONY: That's true of most of the things we've been talking about. That's why there are no rules. If you really like a girl, you'll put up with almost anything. And some girls are so hard not to like.

Dear Eleanor,
During the chit-chat session of our club recently someone brought up the discussion of whether girls dress to please themselves or men the most. We had a lot of fun expressing our opinion on the subject. What do you think?
Melanie
Answer: I agree with Psychologist W. G. Colbliner who studied college girls and concluded that their immediate conscious object was to achieve social status and not to be out of date. But the underlying unconscious motive was to be attractive to men.
The girls agreed that a woman gets satisfaction from out-dressing the other woman; yet she does it chiefly because it enables her to get her man, or else to keep the other woman from getting him.
