Event Details
The storm on Tuesday night last was quite severe in this county. The wind blew fiercely, the rain and hail fell in torrents, while the artillery of Heaven flashed and roared like an immense army in battle. Several cattle were killed by lightning in this vicinity, and we are informed that a man, residing near Blackwater, was found a corpse in his dwelling. The old lady who, for fear the thunder would strike something, was so much alarmed while on board the steamboat coming to Bridgeton, during the prevalence of the storm, we understand recovered in a short time after the Captain informed her that the "thunder" didn't strike anything after 6 o'clock P. M.
