However, that each and every statement in this article is an unqualified falsehood.
"In my many years in the boxing business, I have always felt that any writer had the right to criticize me for my actions in and out of the ring. Naturally, I do not enjoy this criticism, as who does, but I know I must expect it as a public figure.
"In this lawsuit I have not taken the position that I must not be criticized. If the author of the article in Look Magazine merely had made statements reflecting on my boxing ability I would have accepted these as part of the role of a heavyweight champion.

"The article, seemingly a discussion of boxing generally and the heavyweight situation particularly, included false, untrue and exceedingly harmful statements concerning my financial condition.

He did not talk with Theodore A. Jones, treasurer of Joe Louis Enterprises, Inc. Mr. Jones, a C. P. A., has been making regular income tax payments on my behalf nor did a Look Magazine representative talk with my attorney, Truman K. Gibson, Jr., of Chicago.
"Therefore I cannot account for the source of the false information that appeared in the Look Magazine article. I do know, however,
