From the Spanish Main.

Information has been received at Salem from Venezuela, by way of Martinique, to a late date. The royal army, reinforced by the troops from old Spain, had retaken the island of Margaretta, lately named 'New Sparta,' by the Honourable Congress of the United States of Venezuela. Bolivar's army had received a check at Corupano and Guayra. He had, it was reported, again deserted his comrades, and quarrelled with his second in command, and had gone to St. Thomas. His late army had been marched into the interior, but joined General Piar, and had reduced the city of Angostura to a surrender by starvation. Before the attack on Margaretta, Admiral Bynas, the patriot commander, had left it with all his fleet, (said to be 22 sail) and had proceeded to the mouth of the Orinoco. Many of these circumstances, it will be recollected, are echoes of former accounts.
