THE LOST CHILD.—At the late term of our county court, a little boy about four years old was introduced to be disposed of by the court. It appears that he had been left in the road by his father, who was alone, and picked up by the family of Mr. Chester.— The child Called himself James Allard, says: that he came over the Cumberland mountain and that his father had killed his mother. The forlorn situation of the little stranger excited the sympathy of every spectator—and his mysterious origin excited the never ailing interest that is attendant upon any such circumstances. That the father murdered the mother, may be a subject of doubt, but he who would cast from him his own child, and leave him unseen by any pitying eye, to the hard chances of the world, would strangle the mother, as she slumbered on his breast. The little foundling has perhaps been bettered by his strange fortune. Mr. Chester took him into his family, and though poor himself. he has humanely adopted him as his own, and the boy's attachment attests the kindness that— has already been extended to him.—Murfreesboro, (Tenn.) Courier.
