In the Vice Chancellor's Court of Orange Co., New York.—Bell vs. Corporation of City of New York.—In this case George Dummer, Esq. for his mother, Mrs. Bell, has recovered by a decision of the Court of Chancery of Orange county, N. Y., that valuable property called Blackwell Island, near New York City on which the corporation, at a very great expense have recently erected their Penitentiary, and other public works. This island is valued at towards half a million of dollars. We understand very important legal principles are involved in the decision. It is the first case of the kind that has ever been brought before our courts, although we learn that there have been frequent decisions in England under the common law similar to this. We doubt a full report of the case will be published.
